After learning the BASIC programming language and running DOS for many years, Windows 95 arrived. He became annoyed at his inability to make Windows systems do what he wanted to as easily as the systems he ran in the past. The only thing they seemed to do really well was crash. He studied Linux, and open-sourced software, which is renowned for its stability, speed and ease-of-customization, and its cost... FREE! Experiementing with this on his computers, he later built a router/firewall with a 56k modem running Linux, several years before the cable or DSL routers of today used the same software configurations. At this time Mr. Obert then partnered with a local TV repair shop to provide new and used computers, and PC repair service.
Having such strong hands-on experience, and personable traits has landed him many career opportunities around the country for many growing businesses. This has moved him to many different parts of the country, ranging from the big city, to small towns in the midwest. He has also coordinated with an overseas office of indian tech support representatives. Mr. Obert has no shortage of culture. He has worked with and maintained a datacenter of over 300 FreeBSD and Linux servers, with 42,000 customers, 100,000 domain names, and well over 1-million email addresses. All that while still providing answers to questions and repairing problems for the support office in India. His fast-paced action, efficiency and instant results got him noticed and he was quickly promoted and promptly displaced an office of 12 people. To facilitate this enormous task he wrote a web-based application and database to monitor and administrate these servers automatically. For that which was not fixed automatically could be emailed to him or his cell phone and could be fixed from his computer at home! This was the original vision that is now Webfoot Enterprises™... software solutions to make business easier.
